Developments
In 2004 the authors were amongst the first to receive an Arts and Humanities Research Council Collaborative Doctoral Research Training Grant of £10,000 for the project Visualizing Research: developing high quality practice-led research training for doctoral students in art and design. Collaborating colleagues were based in the universities of Salford and Sunderland, UK.
The book Visualizing Research continues to be widely used in postgraduate courses and research training in the arts and humanities. It has underpinned new doctoral developments, for example, at Liepaja University, Latvia, launched Autumn 2011.
As a result of Visualizing Research, Carole and Julian have had numerous invitations to contribute to international research events hosted by institutions in Mexico, South Africa, USA, Australia and throughout Europe.
The authors are considering re-developing Visualizing Research as an interactive app-book for the iPad. This involves exploring and testing various apps that extend visual thinking and practice-led inquiry. For a glimpse of what might be possible please visit:
